So yeah, somewhat of a new look.
I've spent the past year trying to find new and interesting ways of cutting corners, in an effort to achieve the elusive 2 strips a week schedule.
Well no more. I've decided to instead go back to the point I was really happiest with the strip, back when the first few pages were full sized and drawn out in full. For the longest time I'd really wanted to do a square book for volume 2, but I've decided it's better to have one that will look right sitting next to the first one, and the full page suits my layout needs a bit better.
In addition, I'm not going to agonize over missing the Monday updates, which I've rarely made on time anyway. My first concern is now making sure the strip looks as good as I can make it. And sometimes that's going to take time. Most weeks I'll still hit it on Monday or Tuesday, but there wil be some times when it'll go up on Friday, or not at all. But seriously, it'll show up in the final strip.
The pencil sketches I've been doing lately have been a lot of fun, and they've really made me look at the way I pencil and ink differently. As a result, I'm using a slightly different style for the next few strips, and I expect it'll evolve a bit more over time. I want to get away from the flat looking animation style I've been using, at least in terms of line weight. So you'll see more cross-hatching, and gradient shading will pop up more and more, as I get used to using it. I tend to get obsessive about drawing details, to the point where it stops being fun. So I really want to soften the focus a bit, and learn to draw backgrounds that suggest more than describe. Not to say I won't still be obsessed with detail, but I really need to focus on priorities.
Fans of the zombie trio should be rather happy with the next few strips. They actually get a bit of development, god forbid.

Comic should be up late Monday night, or possibly Tuesday morning.
Yeah, it looks different. Color is coming, relax.
